学生开始撤离哈佛大学校园
新冠病毒刚刚在中国慢慢平静下来，全球却陷入了恐慌。
根据美国约翰霍普金斯(John Hopkins)汇编的数据，截至美国东部时间星期三上午7时30分，全球确诊病例总数达到201436例。
世界卫生组织(WHO)不久前宣称，新冠疫情已经全球大流行，并将蔓延到世界上大多数国家。
为了遏制病毒的传播，世界各国政府都在关闭学校、工厂、商店和限制旅行，并命令人们留在家里。
哈佛校长Lawrence Bacow通知学生撤离校园的邮件里，最后一段话直指人心

“没人能预知在后面几个星期即将面临我们的是什么，但是我们每个人都要懂得COVID-19将考验我们在危机时刻所显示的超脱于自我的善良和慷慨。我们的任务是在这个非我所愿的复杂混沌时刻，展示自己最好的品格和行为。愿我们与智慧和恩典同行。”
我对这短短的几句话非常有共鸣。
它很真实：谁也不知道未来会发生什么；又有洞见：当前的危机是考验人类良善和团结的时刻；同时指出了方向：世界需要我们展示每个人和集体最好的品格和行为以及行动所需要的支撑：智慧和恩典。
我很好奇，其他几所学校：MIT，耶鲁，斯坦福大学的校长在给全员信中所关注的是什么？有什么共性和特性？

Recent events make clear that what we choose to do today affects lives around the world and has a profound impact on our future.
But for right now, we are focused on the well-being of the Yale community in the coming days, weeks, and months. There is a lot to do, and together, we are doing it.”

读完这些校长们的留言，我还是最感动于哈佛校长Lawrence S. Bacow字里行间所流露的真情实感，真正打动我的心，让我激动地想要站起来行动，当然这里面不排除我对母校怀有的偏爱。

Over the course of my career in higher education, I have never seen such a magnificent display of intensity and persistence as I have seen at Harvard over these past few weeks, and I have never been prouder to be a member of our community. The only thing that outshines your efforts is the decency, humility, and kindness with which they were undertaken.
The Talmud says that to save one life is equivalent to saving the entire world. When the situation we find ourselves in has passed, there will be no way to calculate the number of lives your actions have saved. It was the thought of that unknowable figure—undoubtedly growing greater by the day—that gave me reason to keep moving forward this morning. May it quicken all our steps in the weeks and months to come.
