斯沃斯莫尔学院（Swarthmore College）坐落在距宾夕法尼亚州斯沃斯莫尔镇，距离美国著名城市费城只有11英里的距离。学院成立于1864，是美国最早的男女同校的学院之一，仅开设有本科学位项目，注册学生约1600名，师生比1:8。学院所在的斯沃斯莫尔小镇只有不到7000人口，安详宁静、非常适合安心学习，但由于人口稀少没有公交车，所以对于学生来说拥有一辆汽车是很有必要的。全体学生中有13%的国际学生，17%亚裔美国人，13%西班牙裔和6%非裔美国人，虽然占比最多的还是白人学生（42%）。
斯沃斯莫尔学院在全美文理学院中长年排名前列，其出色的教育质量不输于常青藤联盟中的哈佛、普林斯顿、耶鲁大学。学校虽小，斯沃斯莫尔的校友在各自的领域中也已取得了相当的成就，知名校友包括5位诺贝尔奖获得者、11位麦克阿瑟基金会研究员、30位罗德学术奖得主、27位杜鲁门奖得主，以及上百名在法律、艺术、科学、商业、政治等领域的重要人物。由于学院的毕业生数量较少，因此获得这些杰出成就的校友比例在全美大学的排名中位列前茅。
与其他文理学院文强理弱不同，斯沃斯莫尔学院做到了真正的文理兼修：它既有文理学院中很不常见的工程系（而且它的工程系还做到了在全美赫赫有名），也有其他学校很少见的文科研究学科，比如说战争与和平研究，认知科学，以及翻译理论等。除此之外，学术上斯沃斯莫尔学院还与附近的布尔茅尔（Bryn Mawr College）女子学院，哈弗福特学院（Haverford College）以及宾大组成了一整套的学术交换体系。 学生可以在四所学校中自由选课。得益于优秀的教学体系。至今为止，斯沃斯莫尔学院毕业的校友中已经有四名诺贝尔奖得主。
接下来我们按照惯例谈下申请。学校国际生的托福平均成绩在112左右。2018年度收到申请：9,382份，录取：1,004人，实际入学：392人。这些年的录取趋势如下：
标化是学校考察学术能力的重要部分（标化要求分数段见下图）。
但这不是唯一的标准，申请文书以及面试也是申请中非常重要的一部分，申请生需要在文书和面试中展现自己的个性，这很重要。奇怪的是，在官网上又写面试不要求，看来估计大家都知道重要，所以随便勾一个不是必须，安慰下大家。

申请时对于标化、面试、文书等的要求大概是什么样的？
Candy：Swarthmore非常看重英语水平，纯大陆（没在英语国家读过书）的学生越来越少，大部分同学都有在英语国家生活的居住经验。申请生的英语口语能力也都很好。
Zigga：标化考试一定不是最重要的，学校更看重文书，他们要看你的价值理念、想做的事情和学校的传统是否符合。学校会安排面试，面试好能加很多分。
Q：学校比较喜欢的学生风格是什么样？你比较推荐什么样的学生来这里？
Yi Fan：我认为Swarthmore学生的一大特点就是知性主义（Intellectualism）。Swarthmore喜欢对学习有追求，有学术热情，以及那些将会以社会做贡献为目标，关心社会福祉的学生。
Candy：适合愿意从事学术研究，本科毕业想要继续往上读的同学。热爱学术，如果要从事学术研究类工作，我们学校的本科基础打得非常牢。
Zigga：知道自己的兴趣和长处，可以去促进社会公平正义，让世界变得更好。如果你接触过很多Swarthmore的校友，和他们是朋友，或者上过Swarthmore的课，认识教授，会加很多分。
同时，我们也看下官网上对学生特质的要求：

自己看英文吧。其实和前面讲的差不太多。
接着学校还讲了一下他们的招生过程，先由两个招生老大看你的材料，如果觉得合理，会把你的材料丢给招生委员会其他人看，基本5-6个人。所以它特别强调，这个录取决定不会是一个人做的，其实也就告诉你别想通过搞定一个人而获得录取，是否录取没有固定的模式，是大家讨论出来的。
最后，还是要公正的评判下文理学院的出路，Swarthmore做了各种不同年份的毕业生情况分析。我觉得数据客观，还是比较公正的，我读下来基本感觉，大部分都过的很好，不过干本科专业的人实在不多。需要英文原文的详细报告，可以问我要。
